CLDP Supports MEDT Delegation to the Agriculture WTO Committee Meeting in Geneva

CLDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture, supported the travel of the Government of Ukraine (GOU) delegation to the Agriculture Committee Meeting to take place on June 7-8, 2016 at WTO Secretariat, Geneva. The GOU delegation consisted of one Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and one Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine officials. They attended the AG Committee meeting and participate in bilateral negotiations with the U.S. and other delegations.

The Role of the High Council of Justice and Specialized Courts in the Reform of the Judicial System of Ukraine

On May 23-24, 2016, CLDP, in coordination with the High Council of Justice of Ukraine (HCJ), High Commercial Court of Ukraine, and the High Administrative Court of Ukraine, conducted a workshop entitled “The Role of the High Council of Justice and Specialized Courts in the Reform of the Judicial System of Ukraine.”  The workshop allowed the first opportunity for the Ukrainian Judiciary to come together with its different organs, including the HCJ, Commercial Courts, Administrative Courts, the National School of Judges, the Council of Judges, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, et al., to discuss the issues surrounding the fair, effective, and efficient functioning of the judiciary.

Gulf: CLDP Leads Regional SME Development and Entrepreneurship Workshop

On May 10-13, in Tbilisi, Georgia, CLDP led a regional workshop for Bahraini and Kuwaiti officials , NGOs and private sector representatives, academics, and entrepreneurs on how to improve the environment for doing business in each country and encourage private sector growth by fostering SME development and entrepreneurship.

Understanding Power Project Financing

As part of the "Understanding Series" of reference handbooks published by Power Africa, in February 2016, CLDP (in partnership with the African Legal Support Facility) brought together a group of world-class legal, policy and financial experts to draft a guide on power project financing. The new handbook, Understanding Power Project Financing, is the culmination of months of consultations with public and private sector stakeholders from Africa, the United States and Europe. The handbook is intended to provide decision-makers with an overview of the structuring of private investment and financing for power projects and insight into the important supporting role that governments play.
