CLDP Celebrates 20 years!

Begun as a small joint venture between USAID and Commerce to help the Former Soviet Bloc countries of Eastern Europe transition to more market-oriented economies, CLDP has expanded to help meet the legal technical assistance needs of more than 50 countries in Eurasia, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. On February 23rd, CLDP celebrated 20 years of technical assistance in commercial law.

Ukraine: Workshop on Government Procurement for the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine

On October 10-11, 2011 CLDP co-sponsered the National Seminar on the Revised WTO Agreement on Government Procurement in Kyiv, Ukraine.  The seminar provided participants with information on the most complicated provisions of the revised WTO Government Procurement Agreement as well as the details of the negotiations process.

Ukraine: Workshop on Valuation and Classification for the State Customs Service of Ukraine

CLDP, in continued collaboration with the State Customs Service of Ukraine,  conducted the first in a series of workshops on customs valuation and classification.  The program aimed to train a cadre of trainers and officials from the State Customs Service of Ukraine and worked to ensure that the customs valuation and classification process is fair, harmonized, and transparent and meets the requirements of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, and the WTO Customs Valuation Agreement.

CLDP and USPTO Train Ukranian Officials on Identification and Interdiction of Counterfeit Medicines

CLDP and USPTO, in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, held a three-day workshop, on May 18-20, to increase the understanding of Ukraine's officials, specifically its law enforcement and regulatory agencies, of the most effective methods and techniques to combat the trade in counterfeit medicines.

Workshop on the Improvement of International Coordination of Intellectual Property Enforcement in Eastern Europe

CLDP, the Ukraine Customs Service, together with the US Customs and Border Patrol and the Ukrainian State Department of Intellectual Property (SDIP), conducted a three-day workshop in Kiev, Ukraine, that brought together the customs and other government authorities of Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova to determine ways to improve the collaboration and coordination between the countries in the interdiction of IP infringing goods.
