A Bahraini delegation consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Bahraini Economic Development Board, the Bahraini Monetary Agency and the private sector visited the United States to participate in consultations with experts in the Corporate Governance field.

Adjudicating Business Disputes; Judicial Capacity Building Program for Algeria Phase III: Consultations in the United States

CLDP organized consultations in close cooperation with U.S. Embassy Algiers, and MEPI for a delegation of judges from Algeria. The consultations focused on adjudicating business disputes, including meetings with several US judges with particular business court expertise including judges from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and New York State Supreme Court with particular expertise in business courts.

Tunisia: Drug Safety and the Regulation of the Pharmaceutical Market for the Tunisian Ministry of Health

CLDP organized the consultations in close cooperation with the US Food and Drug Administration, MEPI and Tunisia’s Ministry of Health/Directorate of Pharmacy. The consultations focused on content and development of US safety and regulation in the pharmaceutical sector.

Curriculum Development Advisor to Bahrain, Qatar, Oman

CLDP collaborated with deans and law professors in universities in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the UAE to provide administrative support to law schools to teach commercial law curricula, and provided expert law school administrators who are advising the faculties on a continuing basis.

Tunisia: Consultations on Law and Economics; Furthering Economic Development through Law Reform

Given the challenges facing the Tunisian economy, the U.S. Embassy in Tunisia and the MOJ have concluded consultations in the U.S. on “Law and Economics” for a small team of judges from a “think tank” of the MOJ called CEJJ (Centre d’Etudes Juridiques et Judiciaires) for the purpose of enabling CEJJ to better contribute to the modernization of the Tunisian economy, and, as importantly, would bolster initiatives to expand the Rule of Law in Tunisia.

Adjudicating Business Disputes that Affect Small and Medium Sized Enterprises

CLDP officials traveled to Jordan to meet with potential advisors and the Jordanian judges selected to participate in the pilot project on judicial education. This project will focus on developing skills required for Jordanian judges to efficiently and consistently adjudicate disputes that affect Jordan’s SMEs.

NY Convention / Arbitral Awards Advisor - Phase I (UAE)

CLDP worked with an arbitration expert to develop a program for the qualification and quantification of the value of the UAE becoming a signatory to the 1958 New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (NY Convention).
