CLDP To Provide Preparatory Training Sessions for 2018 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and Vis East Moot

On October 12-14 in Manama, Bahrain, CLDP, in cooperation with Royal University for Women (RUW), the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA), the University Pittsburgh's Center for International Legal Education (CILE), and MENA Chambers Bahrain held a preparatory training in Manama, Bahrain, aimed to prepare South Asia, Middle East and North Africa law students to compete in the 25th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, to be held in Vienna, Austria and Hong Kong in March-April 2018.

On September 11-15, CLDP, USPTO, and WIPO, in close coordination with the National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka and the University Grants Commission, conducted working group drafting sessions and site visits to select universities and institutions in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan: FTC Fellowship Program Part 2

CLDP sponsored one fellowship recipient from the Competition Commission of Pakistan staff to spend two months working as an integral member of the Bureau of Consumer Protection team at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission from August 7 – September 29, 2017.

Nepal Workshop on Power Procurement

On July 25-26, CLDP held a workshop in Kathmandu for officials from the Ministry of Energy, Nepal Investment Board, Office of the Millennium Challenge, Nepal Electricity Authority and the Ministry of Finance and other energy-related agencies on Power Procurement. The workshop is part of the Department of State's Indo-Pacific Economic Corridor Initiative aimed at increasing cross-border investment in energy and power trading in South Asia.

On July 24-27, 2017, CLDP organized a four-day workshop on reforming gas pricing to increase power generation for officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and the Oil and Gas Development Company, Ltd.

Myanmar LNG Import Legislative Drafting

On July 18-25, 2017, CLDP will held a week-long workshop in Washington, DC for officials from the Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) tasked with drafting the LNG (liquefied natural gas) import regulations. CLDP together with experts from other US Government agencies, academia and private sector advised the Burmese officials on LNG import regulations.
