CLDP Organizes North Africa Regional Workshop on Technology Transfer

CLDP organized a North Africa Regional Workshop on University-Industry Relations in Encouraging Technology Transfer from February 7-9, 2018 at the Unviersity of Mohamed V Rabat, in Morocco. Technology transfer professionals, government officials, and university representatives from Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia joined the program, which will focus on ways universities, the private sector, and governements can together build innovation ecoystems that benefit students, researchers, companies, and investors. Experts from the University of California Berkeley, University of Algarve (Portugal), and Andalusia Technopark (Spain), served as expert-advisors for the program. This program is funded by the Middle East Partnership Initiative of the U.S. Department of Commerce and is part of CLDP's ongoing work to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in North Africa.

On July 20, 2018, CLDP, in coordination with the Georgian Copyright Association (GCA) and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia, “Sakpatenti,” conducted a one-day training for 27 Georgian journalists and other representatives of the media in Batumi, Georgia. Judge Bernice Donald, U.S. Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and Judge Oliver Schön of the District Court of Munich led the training and provided a general overview of intellectual property law, highlighting recent trends and developments in the U.S. and the E.U.
