April 9, 2018 - April 11, 2018

On April 9-11, CLDP, as part of Power Africa’s renewed mission to expand energy access in West Africa, in partnership with the Moroccan Agency of Sustainable Energy (MASEN) hosted a workshop on “Competitive Tendering of Power Projects in West Africa” in Casablanca, Morocco. The workshop was attended by delegations from eight Francophone West Africa countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Guinea, Togo and Niger). In addition to the eight delegations, the workshop brought together an array of strategic partners to promote competitive tenders in West Africa, including the African Legal Support Facility (ASLF), USAID, PROPARCO (France), USTDA, Africa50 and international law firms, and West African regional institutions. The three-day workshop featured an in-depth explanation of the procurement of power projects using the Understanding Series handbooks and case-studies of best practices for the procurement of Independent Power Projects (IPPs) through competitive tenders.
