From February 27-28, 2017, CLDP will conduct a workshop on intellectual property rights (IPR) for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Baku, Azerbaijan. CLDP will work with the US Embassy in Baku as well as the Copyright Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of the Republic of Azerbaijan to implement a workshop aimed at raising SME owners’ awareness of IPR topics like copyrights, trademarks, and IP management. Two private-sector IP experts from the United States will accompany CLDP on this program. The experts will introduce Azerbaijani small business owners to IP topics, as well as share the US experience. The workshop will feature presentations, as well as practical and effective training through the use of country-specific case studies and interactive discussions. This program represents the first in a series of workshops designed to support the government of Azerbaijan’s efforts to diversify its economy by encouraging the growth of SMEs.
