CLDP will sponsor the first National Internet Governance Forum Afghanistan (IGFA) from March 28-30 in Kabul, Afghanistan. 50 Afghans from around the country will participate in the 3-day forum which is being organized by Afghans who participated and now serve on the board of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF). CLDP has sponsored ICT professionals from both the government and non-profit sectors in Afghanistan to attend the UN IGF for the past few years. In December 2016, 7 Afghans attended the UN IGF in Guadalajara, Mexico and decided to form a national IGF in Afghanistan. The 3-day IGFA will feature workshops on topics in research, practice, development, and education regarding internet issues such as access, diversity and freedom of expression, privacy and ethics, cybersecurity, local technologies, digital trade, youth and gender, etc.
