On May 17-18, CLDP will conduct a workshop in Naypyitaw for senior Burmese energy officials from the LNG Committee, the Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise, and the Ministry of Energy and Electricity on the key commercial risks facing private developers of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import projects. The workshop follows a March 2017 workshop which provided these Burmese officials with a LNG imports model that demonstrated a critical method by which private developers determine whether and how to structure their bid on the country’s LNG import facility tender. These workshops assist the Government of Burma to better understand the economics of LNG projects and the legal and regulatory reforms they can enact to ensure a commercially viable LNG import facility.
