Azerbaijan: Workshop on Judicial Ethics and Case Management

From June 19-20, CLDP will conduct a Workshop on Judicial Ethics and Case Management in Baku, Azerbaijan. The workshop will be conducted in coordination with the U.S. Embassy Baku and the Justice Academy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and will deliver training to 127 judicial candidates. To deliver this training, CLDP will call upon the expertise of U.S. District Judges Jed Rakoff and Kimba Wood, both of the U.S. Southern District of New York. The workshop will focus on U.S. and international best practices and standards in judicial ethics, and will also cover some basic principles of case management that are crucial for any young judge. The judges will also present current best practices in case management utilized in U.S. courts, such as court automation, that could be used as a model for Azerbaijan as they continue to modernize their judicial system. This workshop is the will be the first phase of a series of trainings intended to build the capacity of the judiciary of Azerbaijan.
