Kuwait Alternative Dispute Resolution Workshop

February 6, 2018 - February 7, 2018

On February 6-7, 2017, CLDP, in close cooperation with the Kuwait Commercial Arbitration Center (KCAC) will conduct a two-day workshop in Kuwait City, Kuwait regarding alternative dispute resolution best practices for lawyers and small and medium sized enterprises operating in Kuwait. Enlisting the expertise of local and international ADR practitioners, CLDP and KCAC will present case studies and practical exercises to prepare lawyers and business owners with the necessary skills to prepare for ADR in Kuwait.  Contract enforcement is a critical element of doing business across borders, without which business actors hesitate to act on agreed upon arrangements and cannot enforce terms of payment.  Contract enforcement is particularly critical for US and local companies in the Arabian Peninsula, where business depends upon contract terms for products and services understood across language and cultural barriers.  In order to ensure the appropriate drafting and enforcement of contract terms, CLDP at the behest of the US Department of State Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, has partnered with KCAC to conduct programming to bring increased certainty for US and other business actors operating in the Arabian Peninsula and in Kuwait in particular.  This program will result in increasing the understanding of alternative dispute resolution for local practitioners and business owners, ensuring greater reliability of contract compliance and enforcement.
