Ukraine: Workshop on the Progress in the Implementation of the Single Window

November 6, 2018 - November 8, 2018

CLDP, in coordination with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (U.S. CBP) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the State Fiscal Service Ukraine will hold the Workshop on the Progress in the Implementation of the Single Window. The workshop will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine, and will gather Ukrainian customs and other government officials, lawyers, and business community.

CLDP has been working with the Ukrainian government and the private sector on the implementation of a wide range of WTO TFA provisions, which include WTO TFA Article 10.4, envisaging that the parties to the agreement “shall endeavor to establish or maintain a single window … for importation, exportation, or transit of goods through a single entry point …”. Ukraine is implementing substantial legal and institutional reforms, which include balancing the protection of the people from illicit and substandard goods with the facilitation of trade. Thus, the Ukrainian government will greatly benefit from the detailed analysis of institutional, legislative and practical aspects of administration of regulatory measures by U.S. CBP and other U.S. government authorities, relevant for the implementation of WTO TFA, with the specific focus on WTO TFA Article 10.4.

The workshop will further increase the capacity of the Ukrainian government to administer customs and other trade related procedures at the border. In turn, this will lead to better trade and investment opportunities in Ukraine.
