Guatemala: U.S. Consultations on Trade Facilitation

December 11, 2018 - December 12, 2018

On December 11-12, 2018, CLDP will host a delegation of 15 Guatemalan government officials in Washington, D.C., for a series of consultations on trade facilitation. Officials from the Guatemalan Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, and customs authority will meet with their counterparts at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to exchange experiences and best practices. The meetings will focus on the U.S. experience with the publication and streamlining of information online in a format that is easily accessible and user-friendly for citizens. Learning from these experiences will assist the Government of Guatemala as they work to comply with their commitments under the World Trade Organization's Trade Facilitation Agreement, specififically Article 1.1 on publication of information. This program represents part of CLDP's regional "Customs, Border Management, and Supply Chain" technical assistance project serving the Northern Triangle governments of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. Funding for the project comes from the U.S. Department of State and USAID in support of the objectives set out in the U.S. Strategy for Central America.
