Guatemala: Workshop on Public Consultation and Interagency Coordination

November 13, 2019 - November 14, 2019

On November 13-14, 2019, CLDP, in coordination with the International Trade Administration (ITA), will conduct a workshop on public consultation and interagency coordination for up to 100 government officials in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

CLDP and ITA are implementing the trade facilitation program “Central America Customs, Border Management, and Supply Chain” that provides technical assistance to Northern Triangle governments on transparency reforms. The program promotes the prosperity objectives set forth in the U.S. Strategy for Engagement in Central America and the Alliance for Prosperity Initiative by strengthening implementation of, and ensuring compliance with, the commitments outlined in both the CAFTA-DR and the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). The Department of Commerce assessed the host governments’ policies and practices with respect to the commitments set forth in both agreements to ensure the program goals are measurable and supported by international commitments. Over the course of two years, Commerce will conduct technical exchanges and tailored workshops on public consultation, interagency coordination, and publication of trade-related information in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras to facilitate capacity building on best practices across the region to strengthen trade facilitation commitments and simultaneously stimulate economic growth.
