CLDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture will support the travel of the Government of Ukraine (GOU) delegation to the Agriculture Committee Meeting to take place on March 6-8, 2017 at WTO Secretariat, Geneva. The GOU delegation will consist of one Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and one Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine officials. They will attend the AG Committee meeting and participate in bilateral negotiations with the U.S. and other delegations.
March 11, 2017 - March 14, 2017
CLDP is assisting Ukraine with compliance to World Trade Organization. As part of this effort, CLDP is sponsoring a team of law students from Kyiv to attend the WTO Moot Court Competition. The participants are ELSA WTO Moot Court Institute of International Relations team. The regional ELSO WTO Moot Court will take place in Cluz-Napoca, Romania on march 11-14, 2017. The team participated in WTO Moot Court competitions before and was very successful. Their participation will contribute to building capacity of the students on WTO law.
March 14, 2017 - March 17, 2017
From March 14-17, 2017 CLDP will conduct a four day study tour for program participants from the Bahrain and Morocco. The workshop will discuss different models for 1) structuring the courts that oversee insolvency proceedings, 2) determining the roles of creditors and debtors in the insolvency process, for 3) selecting trustees and 4) determining the role of the court in the insolvency proceeding versus the role of the trustee. The study tour will be led by a US Federal Judge from the U.S.

LDP will host a delegation of franchising stakeholders from Algeria and Tunisia, including government officials and private-sector executives, in Paris, France from March 17-19, 2017, for a workshop and expo visit focused on international franchising.

The GOU delegation will consist of one Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and one Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine officials. They will attend the SPS Committee meeting and participate in bilateral negotiations with the U.S. and other delegations.

From March 21-22, 2017, CLDP will conduct a Competition Law Workshop on Abuse of Dominance for the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP). CCP has been identified by U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) competition experts as a model for developing countries trying to establish sustainable competition regimes.

CLDP will co-host a Workshop on Facilitating the Export of Handicrafts in Rabat, Morocco from March 21-22, 2017, in coordination with Morocco's Maison de l'Artisan. The workshop will gather stakeholders in the handicraft sector, including artistans and government representatives, for training on export methods and authorization procedures for artisanal products.

On March 26-28, 2017, CLDP will hold a legislative workshop for the legal and economic advisory staff of Bahrain’s Council of Representatives. The worskshop will focus on training the advisors to enhance their skills in insolvency research and legal capacity building. The workshop will expose the legal and economic advisors to pertinent issues in insolvency and review potential impacts of passing an insolvency law in Bahrain. The workshop is part of CLDP’s Legislative Drafting Program in Bahrain, in part to build capacity of the Council of Representatives Members.

On March 26-April 2, CLDP will be sponsoring law students from Kardan University, American University Afghanistan, and Herat University to participate in the 14th Annual Willem C. Vis East Moot (Vis East Moot) Competition in Hong Kong. The Vis East Moot Competition was preceded by the submission of 2 memoranda of law, 2 Afghan national competitions, and 1 Middle East regional Pre-Moot Competition. The program focuses on developing analytical, oral and written advocacy skills, and international arbitration skills for future Afghan lawyers.

On March 27-April 7 2017, CLDP will hold a workshop in cooperation with the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on “Effective of Capital Markets.” The workshop will feature presentations from U.S. SEC experts on enforcement best practices, investigation techniques, oversight of exchanges and self-regulatory organizations, risk based supervision, and promoting private sector compliance.

CLDP will sponsor the first National Internet Governance Forum Afghanistan (IGFA) from March 28-30 in Kabul, Afghanistan. 50 Afghans from around the country will participate in the 3-day forum which is being organized by Afghans who participated and now serve on the board of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

On March 29, in Manama, CLDP led a Roundtable in close coordination with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the National Assembly, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC), AmCham Bahrain, and other key private sector stakeholders to discuss proposed insolvency legislation and its effect on small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Bahrain.

On March 30 and 31, CLDP will lead a workshop on best practices for establishing procurement procedures that support small businesses in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
