Upcoming Programs

July 10, 2017 - July 14, 2017

CLDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture, will support the travel of the Government of Ukraine (GOU) delegation to the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Committee Meeting to take place on July 10-14, 2017 at WTO Secretariat, Geneva. The GOU delegation will consist of one Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and one Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine officials. They will attend the SPS Committee meeting and participate in bilateral negotiations with the U.S. and other delegations.

July 11, 2017 - July 14, 2017

CLDP, in coordination with the Advisory Centre on WTO Law, will conduct an intensive 4-day training on trade and WTO dispute settlement. The in-person training is proceeded by 6 DVC training sessions. The training will be attended by 11 officials from the Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industries, along with various other ministries. 

As Afghanistan recently became a member of the WTO, the goal of this program has been to help build the capacity of Afghan officials to identify and protect their legal rights under the WTO laws. 

July 11, 2017 - July 12, 2017

CLDP will sponsor a Project Launch on the Prevention of Counterfeits and Illegal Agro-Inputs in Mali from July 11-12 in Bamako. The program is funded by USAID's Feed the Future project and is being presented in coordination with Sproxil and the International Crops Research Initiative for the Semi-Arid Tropics. The program will focus on the impacts of counterfeit products on public health and solutions for combatting them. More than 30% of agro-inputs in West Africa are estimated to be counterfeited, which can lead to environmental and health risks.

July 17, 2017 - July 25, 2017

On July 17-25, 2017, CLDP, in cooperation with the Government of Moldova, the Afghanistan Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the World Trade Organization Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC), and the U.S. Embassy, Moldova, will hold consultations in Chișinău, Moldova for members of Afghanistan Parliamentary Committees.

July 18, 2017 - July 25, 2017

On July 18-25, 2017, CLDP will hold a week-long workshop in Washington, DC for officials from the Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) tasked with drafting the LNG (liquefied natural gas) import regulations. CLDP together with experts from other US Government agencies, academia and private sector would advise the Burmese officials on LNG import regulations.

July 23, 2017 - July 30, 2017

From July 23-30, CLDP helped organize Summer School on Intellectual Property Law in Tbilisi, Georgia, in partnership with Georgia’s European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (Sakpatenti). The summer school was attended by 50 Georgian and European law students who will compete in a moot competition in August.

July 24, 2017 - July 27, 2017

CLDP will organize a five-day workshop on reforming gas pricing to increase power generation for officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources (MPNR) and the Oil and Gas Development Company, Ltd. (OGDCL).  The workshop will provide examples and lessons learned from deregulation of gas sector internationally. The workshop will discuss the balancing of demands for low domestic prices with the need to incentivize exports, and ensuring a commitment to maintain rationalized consumer gas prices.

July 25, 2017 - July 26, 2017

On July 25-26, CLDP will hold a workshop in Kathmandu for officials from the Ministry of Energy, Nepal Investment Board, Office of the Millennium Challenge, Nepal Electricity Authority and the Ministry of Finance and other energy-related agencies on Power Procurement. The workshop is part of the Department of State's Indo-Pacific Economic Corridor Initiative aimed at increasing cross-border investment in energy and power trading in South Asia.

July 26, 2017 - July 27, 2017

CLDP will hold a workshop in West Africa for a gathering of representatives from the governments of Benin, Burkina-Faso, Guinea and Niger. The workshop will feature an in-depth explanation of power purchase agreements (PPAs) using the Understanding Series handbooks (Understanding Power Purchase Agreements and Understanding Power Project Financing) and presentations by commercial banks, law firms and multilateral partners.

July 31, 2017 - August 1, 2017

CLDP, in collaboration with the Ukraine's State Fiscal Service (SFS) will host a Workshop on Government Ethics, bringing together customs officials of various ranks and specializations, from heads of sector to customs officers stationed at border crossing points. The Workshop will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine on July 31 - August 1. During the workshop, CLDP will work with SFS to develop anti-corruption strategies and implement a comprehensive integrity program.
