February 1, 2018 - February 4, 2018

On February 1-4, CLDP will implement a follow up four-day Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Oral Argument Training in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina to support the second phase of its Willem C. Vis Moot Competition (Vis Moot) program. The program aims to prepare law students to compete in the 2018 Vis Moot to be held in March 2018 in Vienna. Participants include coaches and students from five different law schools in Bosnia-Herzegovina and law schools from Croatia, Germany, Hungary, and Qatar.

February 7, 2018 - February 9, 2018

CLDP will organize a North Africa Regional Workshop on University-Industry Relations in Encouraging Technology Transfer from February 7-9, 2018 in Rabat, Morocco. Technology transfer professionals, government officials, and university representatives from Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia will join the program, which will focus on ways universities and the private sector can together build innovation ecoystems that benefit researchers, companies, and investors. Experts from Europe and the United States will serve as expert-advisors for the program.

February 12, 2018 - February 13, 2018

CLDP and USPTO will conduct a 2-day IPR border enforcement program for sixteen Afghan participants comprised of officials from the Afghanistan Customs Department, the Ministry of Commerce and Industries and the Afghan Judiciary. This program is part of a long term engagement with the Government of Afghanistan to help build capacity of ministries that are responsible for helping the government meet its obligations under the World Trade Organization’s Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property (TRIPS).

February 13, 2018 - February 16, 2018

On February 13-14, CLDP will implement a two-day workshop on microgrid energy for approximately 20 government officials in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Participants will include representatives of Honduras’s newly-formed Ministry of Power, the Electrical Energy Regulatory Commission (CREE), and the national utility company (ENEE). CLDP, along with partners from the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and ENR will provide a background on the different legal and regulatory frameworks currently being explored internationally for microgrids.

February 15, 2018 - February 21, 2018

CLDP will sponsor the participation of technology transfer specialists from Algeria, Morocco, Sri Lanka, and Tunisia to attend the 2018 Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ from February 18-21, 2018. This event, coupled with a pre-conference program focusing on contract negotiation, will provide extensive training and networking on how to manage a technology transfer office.

February 18, 2018 - March 6, 2018

In close coordination with the Sri Lankan Department of Commerce, CLDP will arrange commercial diplomacy and international trade consultations for fifteen newly hired Sri Lankan Department of Commerce trainee officers. This program will introduce the participants to U.S. experts in the fields of commercial diplomacy, technical barriers to trade, trade policy analysis, trade enforcement and compliance and investment promotion.

February 19, 2018 - February 23, 2018

The Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot), held annually in Vienna, Austria, is the pre-eminent moot competition on commercial law and arbitration. The Vis Moot is an educational tool, initiated by UNCITRAL, for arbitrators, judges, lawyers, professors, and law students, to foster the study and practice of international commercial and arbitration laws and encourage the resolution of business disputes by arbitration.

February 21, 2018 - March 8, 2018

On February 21-22, 2018, CLDP will hold a workshop in cooperation with the World Trade Organization (WTO) Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC) for officials from the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.  The workshop will be held at the WTO Secretariat on the margins of the meetings of the Committee for Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures and the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT).   At the workshop, the Afghan officials will discuss with U.S.

February 25, 2018 - February 27, 2018

On February 25-27, CLDP, in cooperation with the Asian Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT), will hold a preparatory training in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to prepare Sri Lankan and Afghan university students to participate in the Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot) and the ELSA WTO Trade Law Moot (Trade Law Moot). The Vis Moot is held annually in March in Hong Kong and Vienna. The WTO Moot will be held in April in Thailand.

February 26, 2018 - February 28, 2018

From February 26-28, CLDP will conduct a trade facilitation assessment in Guatemala City, Guatemala, in coordination with the International Trade Administration (ITA) and the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). The assessment is part of a joint project between CLDP and ITA which aims to increase regional integration in Central America by providing technical assistance to the governments of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.

February 27, 2018 - March 2, 2018

On February 27 – March 2, 2018, CLDP will organize a workshop in Alberta, Canada on Establishing an Effective and Independent Upstream Regulator.  The workshop will bring together officials from various agencies within Pakistan’s Ministry of Energy, as well as its Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), as Pakistan restructures its institutions to divide into, on the one hand, an independent upstream regulatory authority, and on the other, a policy wing.
