February 21, 2018 - March 24, 2018

On February 21-22, 2018, CLDP will hold a workshop in cooperation with the World Trade Organization (WTO) Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC) for officials from the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.  The workshop will be held at the WTO Secretariat on the margins of the meetings of the Committee for Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures and the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT).   At the workshop, the Afghan officials will discuss with U.S.

February 27, 2018 - March 2, 2018

On February 27 – March 2, 2018, CLDP will organize a workshop in Alberta, Canada on Establishing an Effective and Independent Upstream Regulator.  The workshop will bring together officials from various agencies within Pakistan’s Ministry of Energy, as well as its Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), as Pakistan restructures its institutions to divide into, on the one hand, an independent upstream regulatory authority, and on the other, a policy wing. 

March 10, 2018 - March 17, 2018

On March 10-17, CLDP will be hosting a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan (MoMP) in Washington, DC and Denver, CO.  Her Excellency Nargis Nehan, Acting Minister of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, will head the Afghan delegation in the U.S.  CLDP will facilitate meetings for the Afghan delegation with U.S.

March 14, 2018 - March 16, 2018

As part of the U.S. government’s objective to promote economic expansion and stability in Afghanistan and Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan) region, CLDP has been supporting the implementation of regional working groups on Customs, Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures, and Standards. CLDP is organizing the Sixth Meeting of the Central Asia-Afghanistan Regional Expert Level Working Group on SPS Issues to take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on March 14-16, 2018.

March 14, 2018 - March 15, 2018

From March 14-15, CLDP will lead a Customs Workshop on Combatting Counterfeit Goods to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan. This workshop will bring together approximately 25 Azerbaijani customs officials to hear from U.S. experts and share best practices in combatting counterfeit goods, which has been identified as a priority by both the State Customs Committee of Zerbaijan as well as the U.S. Embassy.  

March 19, 2018 - March 20, 2018

On March 19-20 CLDP, in cooperation with the State Procurement Agency of Georgia (SPA) and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia (MOESD), conducted a two-day workshop on public-private partnerships (PPPs) in Tbilisi, Georgia.  The workshop brought together participants from several line ministries, national agencies, and regional city halls.  Two experts joined the program, sharing their perspectives from the public and private sector on the opportunities and challenges presented by PPPs in Georgia.  

March 20, 2018 - March 21, 2018

On March 21-22, in coordination wtih Kosovo Customs, CLDP will implement a Workshop on Implementation of Single Window Data Systems to take place in Pristina, Kosovo. This workshop will bring together approximately 25 Kosovar customs officials from various regional customs offices as well as the national headquarters in Pristina to hear from U.S. experts and share best practices in the implementation of integrated data systems. This workshop was requested as a follow-on to CLDP’s training on single window and cross-border management for Kosovo Customs, implemented in September 2017.

March 20, 2018 - March 22, 2018

From March 20-22 in Pristina, Kosovo, CLDP will lead a high-level mining workshop for government officials. Kosovo recently concluded an agreement to build a large lignite-fired power plant that will meet over 40% of the country’s electricity demand. In order for the plant to function, the government must develop a nearby source of lignite supply. CLDP will assist the government in developing a strategy for partnering with the private sector in the development of the lignite mine, and share best practices in mining-related governmentn procurement.

March 22, 2018 - March 29, 2018

On March 22-29, 2018, CLDP will sponsor three Middle East law schools: Iraqyia College of Law, Faculty of Legal, Political and Social Sciences of Tunis, and University of Jordan to participate in the 25th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot) in Vienna, Austria.  The Vis Moot is an educational program, initiated by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), aimed at building international synergies in the resolution of commercial disputes.

March 23, 2018 - March 25, 2018

CLDP will host a delegation of franchising stakeholders from Algeria and Tunisia, including government officials and private-sector executives, in Paris, France from March 23-25, 2018, for a workshop and expo visit focused on international franchising.

March 29, 2018 - April 4, 2018

In an effort to encourage investment and economic growth by introducing best practices in contract enforcement, CLDP is providing technical assistance to the Governments of Morocco and Tunisia. CLDP is organizing a program on Improving Court Efficiency with Moroccan and Tunisian lawyers, judges, and government officials. CLDP is also conducting a judicial workshop on Improving Court Procedures with Tunisian judges.
