March 29, 2018 - April 4, 2018

In an effort to encourage investment and economic growth by introducing best practices in contract enforcement, CLDP is providing technical assistance to the Governments of Morocco and Tunisia. CLDP is organizing a program on Improving Court Efficiency with Moroccan and Tunisian lawyers, judges, and government officials. CLDP is also conducting a judicial workshop on Improving Court Procedures with Tunisian judges.

April 2, 2018 - April 9, 2018

On April 2-9, CLDP will be sponsoring Afghan law students from Dunia University and Sri Lankan law students from the Sri Lanka Law College to participate in the ELSA WTO Regional Trade Law Moot (Trade Law Moot) in Bangkok, Thailand.

April 16, 2018 - April 19, 2018

CLDP will co-organize, in cooperation with the Government of Algeria, a Workshop on Creating an Innovation Ecosystem, to take place in Algiers, Algeria from April 16-19, 2018. The workshop will focus on skills and knowledge needed to create an ecosystem where innovation and start-up companies can succeed. The program will include aspects on intellectual property, innovation responsive to market needs, and technology valuation. This workshop is part of CLDP's multi-year effort to promote technology transfer, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Algeria, which is funded by the U.S.

April 16, 2018 - April 17, 2018

On April 16 and 17, CLDP will conduct a 2-day workshop in Bogota, Colombia for Colombian government officials focused on the revised unconventional exploration and production regulations for hydroarbon development.  This will serve as a follow up to the regulatory review that CLDP is conducting with the Colombian government. For the workshop, CLDP, in coordination with the International Technical Assistance Program at the Department of the Interior, will bring experts from Federal and/or State regulators, academic (universitie

April 16, 2018 - April 20, 2018

On April 16-20 in New York City, CLDP will host representatives from the Ministry of Justice of Saudi Arabia for 5 days of judicial consultations regarding the adjudication of complex commercial transactions.  Participant judges from Saudi Arabia will learn best practices in commercial law adjudication from US Federal Judges, including those presiding over bankruptcy cases in the Second Circuit.  In addition, participants will learn the role of judges in referring complex commercial transactions to alternative dispute resolution.  In addition to observing judicial proceedings

On April 16-18, 2018, CLDP will organize a three-day forum that allows land acquisition stakeholders from Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka to share experiences on land acquisition for public projects and prepare a list of recommendations for reform.

April 19, 2018 - April 24, 2018

CLDP will lead franchising workshops in Tunis, Tunisia from September April 19-27, 2018. CLDP will hold a workshop on the legal aspects of franchising in Tunisia for lawyers and judges on April 19-20. CLDP will also lead an introductory workshop on franchising on April 23,  a meeting of the Franchise Business Club on April 24, and an advance training for potential Tunisian franchisors April 25-26. CLDP's franchise programming in Tunisia is part of an effort to promote entrepreneurship and economic development, funded by the U.S.

April 21, 2018 - April 26, 2018

On April 22-26, 2018 in New Delhi, CLDP and the World Customs Organization (WCO) will sponsor a delegation of up to 15 representatives of the Afghanistan Customs Department (ACD) to participate in a collaborative workshop with the objective of crafting Integrity and Intellectual Property strategies in support of Afghanistan’s further integration into the international trading system, including its obligations under the WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation.  This workshop will be the forum where Afghanistan, the WCO, and CLDP can work together to draft the framework of the integrit

April 26, 2018 - May 2, 2018

In April 2018, CLDP will support programs to promote the export of Tunisian Handicrafts to the United States. CLDP will sponsor the travel of American handicraft-sector experts to attend Tunisia's Handicraft Expo, which will take place from April 27-May 6. The experts will assess the potential for export to the U.S. market. At the expo, CLDP will also launch an Artisans Guidebook to Exporting to the United States.

On April 26, U.S. Deptartment of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, General Counsel Peter Davidson and CLDP Chief Counsel Steve Gardner visited with children of Office of the General Counsel (OGC) employees on Bring Your Kid to Work Day in the department's library.

April 29, 2018 - April 30, 2018

On April 29-30, CLDP will organize a two-day workshop in Manama, Bahrain on Case Management in coordination with Bahrain’s Ministry of Justice and the Judicial Legal Studies Institute. The program will train judges and clerks of the judiciary on case automation systems and court efficiency.

On April 30, CLDP in collaboration with AmCham Bahrain, will host a one-day conference for suppliers on how to tender with the Bahrain government.  The roundtable will include discussions with Bahraini government officials on new reforms in Bahrain’s procurement laws that will help promote small-and medium sized enterprises.
