CLDP will arrange a three-month fellowship at Innovation Partners Healthcare for a professor charged with commercialization responsibilities at the University of Colombo. In close collaboration with Focus IP Group, LLC, Innovation Partners Healthcare and WIPO, CLDP has created this opportunity for the Fellow to shadow and be mentored by technology transfer experts in the Boston area.

July 8, 2018 - July 13, 2018

From July 8-13, 2018, CLDP will sponsor high level officials of Afghanistan’s telecommunications regulatory agency to attend the International Telecommunication Union’s Global Symposium for regulators, and to also meet with experts on sector issues. That same week, CLDP will sponsor officials from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Agriculture to attend a meeting of the WTO’s Food Safety Committee. Both events will take place in Geneva, Switzerland.

On July 12-13, 2018, CLDP, in close partnership with the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia “Sakpatenti,” will host the Fourth Annual "Georgia Against Counterfeiting" Conference in Batumi, Georgia.

From July 11-17, 2018, CLDP will coordinate with Georgia’s European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia “Sakpatenti” to support Intellectual Property Law Summer School in Tbilisi, Georgia.

July 16, 2018 - July 22, 2018

On July 16-22, 2018, CLDP, in partnership with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and ICLP, will conduct three events related to the unveiling of the new CCC-ICLP Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Center. The three events include a three-day training for 15 newly hired CCC-ICLP arbitrators. The training will be the first part of a longer-term certified arbitration training program. The second event will be two-day consultations with 30 Sri Lankan judges on the fundamentals of mediation and arbitration and the important role judges play in the ADR sector.

The training will be the first in-person training of the Phase I part of the 2018-19 Sri Lanka Vis Moot program. The training will focus on the fundamentals of international arbitration and oral and written advocacy. The training will also include simulated arbitration sessions. The goal is to select the top two teams at the conclusion of the Phase I section of the program. The two teams will then represent Sri Lanka in the Vis Moot in Hong Kong.

In order to assist the Ukrainian judiciary to achieve the laudable goal of an equitable, transparent, efficient, and consistent adjudication of intellectual property disputes in Ukraine, the United States Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) facilitated the development and drafting of an intellectual property judicial benchbook (IP Benchbook).

CLDP, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, will hold the Workshop on Collective Copyright Management System in Line with Internationally Recognized Standards and Best Practices. The workshop will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine, on July 23 – July 26, 2018, and will gather representatives of the Ukrainian government, Ukrainian expert community and right holders as well as representatives of U.S. and international collective copyright management organizations.

July 24, 2018 - July 26, 2018

On July 24-26, 2018, CLDP, in collaboration with Customs Committees of Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Montenegro will organize the first regional Balkans Workshop on Regional Coordinated Border Management for Balkans Countries in Podgorica, Montenegro. This workshop is aimed at harmonizing customs procedures in the Balkans through WTO's Trade Facilitation Agreement Framework.  The workshop will include presenters and experts from teh World Customs Organization (WCO), US Customs and Border Protection, and the National Revenue Administration.  

July 30, 2018 - July 31, 2018

CLDP, in cooperation with the High Council of Justice and the Supreme Court of Ukraine will hold the Workshop on the Adjudication of Intellectual Property Disputes. The workshop will take place in Odessa, Ukraine, on July 30 – July 31, 2018, and will gather Ukrainian judges, lawyers, right holders as well as representatives of the U.S. judiciary and legal community.
