Upcoming Programs

January 29, 2018 - January 30, 2019

On January 29-30, 2019, CLDP and ITA will conduct a two-day workshop on public consultation best practices for approximately 100 representatives of Honduran trade ministries responsible for citizen participation in addition to representatives from academia and the private sector. Additionally, representatives from several Salvadoran ministries will participate to share their experiences in developing a framework for notice and comment procedures.

October 7, 2018 - October 10, 2018

After training six Sri Lankan law school teams over five months to prepare them in oral and written advocacy, CLDP held its first Sri Lanka National Vis Moot Competition from October 7-10, 2018. The Royal Institute of Colombo College of Law prevailed as champion, and the University of Colombo College of Law placed second. The two winning teams will advance to represent Sri Lanka in the Willem C Vis Moot Competition in Hong Kong in April 2019. CLDP will continue to train both teams and help them prepare for the Hong Kong competition. 

October 10, 2018 - October 12, 2018

CLDP will host the Sixth Meeting of the Expert Level Working Group on Customs for officials from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The meeting will take place on October 10-12, 2018 in Chisinau, Moldova.

October 10, 2018 - October 11, 2018

On October 10 and 11, 2018, in Tunis, Tunisia, CLDP will organize a conference in coordination with the Tunisian Ministry of Trade on key issues affecting the growth of e-Commerce.  This government-industry event will bring together the Tunisian government, local businesses, and both international and international experts to discuss the factors hindering e-Commerce and the steps that could be taken in order for native enterprises to sell goods and services online and for Tunisian consumers to obtain goods and services from U.S.

October 12, 2018 - October 14, 2018

On October 12-14, CLDP, in coordination with the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Law, will hold a workshop to prepare law students from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for the annual Willem C. Vis Moot (Vis Moot) that will take place in Vienna in April 2019.  

October 15, 2018 - October 17, 2018

CLDP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the Public Procurement Agency of Moldova, will support the travel of a delegation of officials from the Government of Moldova to attend a meeting of the Committee on Government Procurement (GPA Committee) on October 15-17, 2018, at WTO Secretariat, Geneva.

October 15, 2018 - October 16, 2018

CLDP Attorney Michael Cofield participated in the U.S.-Central Asia Trade and Investment Framework Agreement annual meetings on October 15-16, 2018 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. On Monday, October 15, CLDP briefed the TIFA-level Working Groups on the work and results of the CLDP-facilitated Expert Level Working Groups on customs issues, standards, and sanitary/phytosanitary measures.

October 15, 2018 - October 16, 2018

On October 15-16, CLDP, in coordination with the Centre for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of Republika Srpska and the Centre for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of FBiH, will conduct the second two-day workshop on the Enforcement of International Sales Contracts for Bosnian judges. 

October 16, 2018 - October 18, 2018

In October 16 and 18, 2018, CLDP will organize a second workshop in Islamabad, Pakistan on how to increase “financial inclusion” by individuals and small and medium size enterprises (SMEs).  

October 17, 2018 - October 18, 2018

On October 17-18, CLDP, in cooperation with the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA), will initiate an SCCA-sanctioned alternative dispute resolution (ADR) training course for future female commercial mediation and arbitration lawyers. The ADR course is part of SCCA’s goal to certify up to 60 female mediators and arbitrators to manage cases brought to the SCCA in the coming two years. The ADR Course was envisioned after the successful implementation of a pilot women’s workshop on “Negotiations and Mediation” that was conducted by CLDP in December of 2017.

October 22, 2018 - October 27, 2018

On October 22-27, in New Delhi, India, CLDP, in coordination with the USGS, will begin the implementation of its 18-month long training course designed for a group of approximately 15 legal and technical staff employed by the Afghan Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP), selected based on competence, work ethics and commitment to staying with MoMP to become a Training Committee.  This course was created at, and is a continuation of, the MoMP training workshop held by CLDP in Sri Lanka in October of last year.  The course will consist of three segments of varying length, scope, an

October 23, 2018 - October 24, 2018

From October 23-24, in coordination with the International Trade Administration, CLDP will conduct a workshop on best practices in public consultation for representatives of the governments of El Salvador and Honduras in San Salvador, El Salvador.

October 24, 2018 - October 25, 2018

On October 24-25, CLDP conducted a conference with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Board of Grievances (BoG) on the importance of transparent and efficient court administration to build trust in the Kingdom’s public procurement system and attract foreign investment. For the first time in its nearly 40-year existence, the BoG invited a non-Saudi entity to organize and lead its annual meeting of chief judges. CLDP developed the agenda for the program and invited several international experts including a U.S.

October 25, 2018

CLDP, in cooperation with the UN ECE and the government of Ukraine will hold the Workshop on the Legislative, Institutional and Practical Issues of the WTO TFA (WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation) Implementation in Ukraine. The workshop will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine, on October 24-26, 2018 and will gather Ukrainian customs and other government officials, lawyers, and business community.

October 29, 2018 - November 1, 2018

On October 29-November 1, 2018, CLDP, in partnership with the Pakistan Regional Economic Integration Activity (a private sector implementer for USAID), the U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Korean Customs Service, led a delegation of officials from the Pakistan Customs Service, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Planning, Development, and Reform, and other stakeholder agencies on a study tour to Daejeon and Seoul, South Korea.

October 30, 2018 - November 1, 2018

On October 30 – November 1, CLDP will organize a North Africa Regional Workshop on Technology Transfer and Ecosystem Building Tunis, Tunisia.  The workshop will include delegations from Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, as well as Bahrain from private sector industries’, universities and technology managers.
