CLDP Hosts Virtual Consultation on Implementation of Moldova’s Procurement Law for Utilities Entities

CLDP, in cooperation with U.S. and European-based procurement experts, will lead a virtual consultation on best practices for Moldova’s implementation of a new law establishing the rules by which entities operating in the utilities sector may procure goods and services for themselves.

Central Asia: CLDP Leads U.S.-Central Asia TIFA Working Groups Session

On Monday, March 29, 2021, CLDP led the working group session of the U.S.-Central Asia Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) Council meeting. CLDP reported on the work of its Expert Level Working Groups on Customs, Women’s Economic Empowerment, Sanitary/Phytosanitary Measures, and Intellectual Property Rights. The TIFA Working Groups unanimously adopted CLDP’s recommended focus areas and projects for the current year. As approved at the meeting, CLDP will begin facilitating a new regional Digital Trade Working Group. Despite recent improvements, the Central Asian region remains one of the least integrated regions globally. By assisting the governments of Central Asia to collaborate on fair, trade-focused, and transparent rules and procedures, the CLDP-facilitated Expert Level Working Groups can contribute to their efforts to mitigate the pandemic’s effects, expand regional and global trade, and promote market access.

Afghanistan: CLDP joins Launch of Donors Working Group for Agriculture in Afghanistan

On March 11, 2021, CLDP joined seven other organizations in a virtual launch, founding the newly running Donors Working Group for Agriculture in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan: WTO Notifications Training

Beginning February 8th 2021, CLDP, in coordination with experts from the WTO’s Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC), provided presentations on the WTO notifications system for the Afghan Mission in Geneva and officials within the Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and Ministry of Public Health.

On December 8 and 9, CLDP will hosted a virtual workshop for officials from a variety of Moldova’s ministries involved in the creation of Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) regulations.

CLDP Draws upon Interagency Relationships to Assist Uzbekistan in Implementing its New Agricultural Strategy

As part of an ongoing collaboration with the Department of Commerce’s Office of Russia, Europe, and Eurasia (ORUE)CLDP participated in a video meeting with Javlon Vakhabov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States on June 25, 2020, to discuss Uzbekistan’s Strategy for the Development of Agriculture in 2020-2030.
