US Consultations for Egypt on Technology Transfer

From March 14 to 25, 2012, CLDP hosted 10 technology transfer office directors representing eight Egyptian universities for a two-week consultation covering various parts of the unique U.S. ecosystem for fostering innovation.

CLDP Celebrates 20 years!

Begun as a small joint venture between USAID and Commerce to help the Former Soviet Bloc countries of Eastern Europe transition to more market-oriented economies, CLDP has expanded to help meet the legal technical assistance needs of more than 50 countries in Eurasia, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. On February 23rd, CLDP celebrated 20 years of technical assistance in commercial law.

Egypt: Workshop on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence

CLDP, with the Egyptian National Center for Judicial Studies, conducted two 2-day workshops for over 200 Economic Court judges and prosecutors from all of the Economic Court jurisdictions in Egypt, to learn and discuss the issues of cybercrime and electronic evidence that play a role in current court decisions.

Open Government Conference in Egypt

CLDP and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), together with the Ministry of State for Administrative Development and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (MSAD), kicked off a three-day Open Government Initiative Conference November 1. The conference addressed government ethics and transparency policies and launched new anti-bribery and civil service reform measures in Egyptian ministries.

Department of Commerce Office of Trade Policy and Analysis staff members, Morgan Barr and Jean Janicke, conducted a screen by screen review of over 300 trade analysis training slides in Cairo from October 19-27, 2011.

Network of Egyptian Universities to Promote Economic Development

From 9/25 through 9/27, CLDP conducted a CLDP workshop on "Technology Valuation and Technology Licensing" at Alexandria University in Alexandria, Egypt. Leading the training was a senior staff member of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) acting as the main expert. The workshop was based upon Egypt-specific case studies created by CLDP.

Judges of the Economic Court of Egypt Practice Mediation Techniques

The judges of first instance of the newly formed Economic Courts of Egypt have the authority to mediate disputes between the litigants. If the mediation is successful, they will submit minutes of the reconciliation, signed by the parties, to the competent circuit.
