Kuwait: CLDP Holds Discussion on SME Development and Company Registration

On December 10, CLDP and the US Embassy held a roundtable discussion regarding the challenges facing company registration and the importance of SME development in Kuwait. The roundtable was attended by Kuwaiti public sector representatives, SMEs, international corporations, and a regional NGO.

Middle East Law Students Successfully Compete in the Vis Pre-Moot Competition

The Second Annual Willem C. Vis Middle East International Commercial Arbitration Pre-Moot, in Muscat, Oman, took place February 29-March 1, 2012. The Vis Middle East Pre-Moot is organized by CLDP, the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Center for International Legal Education (CILE), and the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA). Participating teams included the University of Bahrain, Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, United Arab Emirates University, Qatar University, Faculty of Legal, Political and Social Sciences of Tunis, University of Jordan, and University of Baghdad. Legal practitioners from the local, regional and international legal community took part as arbitrators in the Pre-Moot.

CLDP Celebrates 20 years!

Begun as a small joint venture between USAID and Commerce to help the Former Soviet Bloc countries of Eastern Europe transition to more market-oriented economies, CLDP has expanded to help meet the legal technical assistance needs of more than 50 countries in Eurasia, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. On February 23rd, CLDP celebrated 20 years of technical assistance in commercial law.

Kuwait Invitational Conference for Judges on Commercial Dispute Resolution

In conjunction with the Kuwaiti Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies, CLDP organized a two-day Commercial Law Conference in Kuwait City related to dispute resolution in the Arabian Peninsula.
