New E-commerce Law in Oman

Beginning in 2006, CLDP has worked with the Oman Information Technology Authority (ITA) on the development of the Electronic Transaction Law in Oman. CLDP's legislative e-commerce drafting programs provided officials with guidance and practical experience in the development of effective e-commerce laws for the modern global economy.

Consultations in the U.S. on Processing Customs Claims and on Border Protection

In summer 2007, one-week consultations were organized in the United States for an inter-agency group of Omani officials (mostly Omani Customs officials).

U.S.- Omani Trade Relations Strengthened Through Customs Workshop

During the three-day workshop in Muscat, Oman which was organized by CLDP from June 3 - 5, 2007, in coordination with the Customs and Border Protection Agency, Office of Textiles and Apparel, government employees from the Royal Oman Police and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry were invited to participate in the workshop to assist with U.S. - Oman Free Trade Agreement implementation.

U.S.- Omani Trade Relations Strengthened Through Customs Workshop

CLDP held a training workshop for Omani Customs officials on the Customs Administration and Rules of Origin Chapters of the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement (FTA) the first week of March in Muscat.

Annual Meeting of the Association of American Law Schools

CLDP sponsored the visit of two faculty members from Qatar University Law School and two faculty members from Sultan Qaboos University Law School to participate in the American Association of Law Schools (AALS) annual meeting in Washington DC.

Oman Customs Consultations

CLDP in conjunction with experts from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) conducted an assessment of the Sultanate of Oman’s ability to implement their customs obligations under the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement.

Commercial Code Advising in Oman

CLDP sent drafting experts to Oman to work with the Oman Ministry of Commerce and Industry in order to revise Oman's commercial laws. In the area of company and electronic commerce laws, CLDP intends to introduce Bahrain examples to assist in the development of laws in Oman that comply with international commercial law standards.

Curriculum Development Advisor to Bahrain, Qatar, Oman

CLDP collaborated with deans and law professors in universities in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the UAE to provide administrative support to law schools to teach commercial law curricula, and provided expert law school administrators who are advising the faculties on a continuing basis.

Law School Development Consultations in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar

CLDP brought two senior US law school administrators to Qatar University, the University of Bahrain and Sultan Qaboos University College of Law in Oman to support these universities in implementing modern commercial law curricula. The US experts consulted with law faculty and administrators on both human resources and planning for future courses and instructional mechanisms for commercial law education.

Law Library Enhancement for Curriculum Development Program in the Persian Gulf

CLDP continues to provide assistance to the Middle East by assisting with the development of curricula that will introduce international norms and practices of commercial law to the law schools in the region. During this visit to four Gulf countries, CLDP provided guidance on teaching international commercial law courses and resources to support the further development of comprehensive international commercial law curricula.
