Afghanistan: Insolvency Law Workshop in Kabul

July 16, 2019 - July 18, 2019

On July 16-18, in Kabul, CLDP conducted a three-day workshop addressing key concepts in the new insolvency law, and the related challenges facing the institutions and parties performing functions necessary to create and sustain a working bankruptcy system. U.S. Federal Bankruptcy Chief Judge Michael Williamson and Judge Nancy Alquist will led the workshop, with the first two days aimed at a mixed audience (e.g., judges, government officials, lawyers, bankers, receivers), and the last day specifically reserved for a dialogue with the judiciary. CLDP has worked with the Afghan government for more than two years to bring a modern bankruptcy law forward to free up assets in cases of insolvency and to encourage business reorganization and new business development.
