South Asia: CLDP to Host Regional Consultations On Developing a Competitive Cross-Border Market

On April 25 and 26, CLDP in partnership with U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) formulated the South Asia Regional Initiative/Energy's (SARI/E), hosted participants from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to discuss the development of governance structures for a regional market. CLDP has been working on cross border connectivity in South Asia since 2015. In May 2018, CLDP led a study tour from the five countries to South Africa to meet with South African market stakeholders and the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP). For these consultations, CLDP will invite experts from other power pools to discuss their governance structures to assist in the development of a cross-border market.
