Georgia: CLDP Co-Hosts International Conference Against Counterfeiting and Piracy

July 18, 2019 - July 19, 2019

On July 18-19, 2019, CLDP partnered with the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia, or Sakpatenti, to host the fifth annual Georgia Against Counterfeiting and Piracy international conference in Batumi, Georgia. More than 130 participants attended this year’s conference, which is a platform for national and international experts to present developments in the global fight against counterfeiting and piracy. Conference presenters included experts from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the International Chamber of Commerce Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy. This year’s conference focused in part on the interrelation between customs enforcement and the protection of intellectual property rights and included a regional panel of customs experts from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Ukraine. The program also featured speakers from Georgia’s private and public sector. This annual event enhances public-private dialogue in the fight against counterfeiting in Georgia and the Caucasus region and promotes cooperation and coordination in the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
