Dominican Republic: Workshop on Best Practices in Implementing Government Procurement Programs for SMEs

November 20, 2019 - November 22, 2019

On November 20-22, 2019, in coordination with the Dominican General Directorate for Public Contracting (DGCP), CLDP will conduct a workshop on best practices in implementing government procurement programs for small and women-owned businesses in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The workshop will bring together 80 representatives of the DGCP; the Dominican Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and SMEs; purchasing units of various other government ministries; academia; and the private sector. CLDP experts, including a Procurement Center Representative from the U.S. Small Business Administration, will provide examples of successful small business programs in the United States and throughout the region and engage the audience in an interactive discussion on how to adapt these programs for implementation in the Dominican context. This workshop represents part of CLDP’s multiyear government procurement technical assistance program in the Dominican Republic, which aims to increase transparency in the Dominican national government procurement system and increase access for small and women-owned businesses.
