CLDP Global Vis Pre-Moot Oral Advocacy Program Phase Three Virtual or In-Person

March 8, 2021 - March 12, 2021

CLDP in partnership with the Royal University for Women (RUW), the Bahrain Center for Dispute Resolution, Mena Chambers Bahrain, and the Center for International Legal Studies of the University of Pittsburgh, will host the 11th Annual Middle East Vis Pre-Moot at RUW in Riffa, Bahrain on March 8-12, 2021.

The program will bring together over 20 teams, consisting of over 100 students from Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Maldives, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Tunisia for an extensive three-day clinical training in oral advocacy and simulated arbitration, followed by two days of a Pre-Moot Vis competition. The moot competition will be arbitrated by over 50 legal practitioners from across the globe.  This five-day event is designed to prepare students for the Willem C. Vis Moot Competition that takes places annually in April in Hong Kong and Vienna. The Vis Moot is the most prestigious international moot on commercial arbitration where over 400 teams from around 100 countries compete on oral and written advocacy. The Vis Moot experience aims to equip the participating students with the skills necessary to handle commercial business disputes and bolsters the rule of law in their respective countries.
