May 1, 2019 - May 4, 2019

On May 1-4, 2019, CLDP will organize consultations on microgrid regulation in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for a delegation of Honduran and Guatemalan participants. Representatives from the Honduran and Guatemalan regulators, utilities, ministries of energy, and other stakeholders will travel to Puerto Rico to learn about the territory's experience in reforming its energy regulation in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in an effort to improve the resiliency of the island's electricity supply, largely by encouraging the development of microgrids.

May 2, 2019 - May 3, 2019

On May 2-3, CLDP organized a two-day workshop to review Kuwait’s new bankruptcy draft law, which was hosted by the UN Committee on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in Vienna. For U.S. companies, Kuwait’s current bankruptcy system is overly punitive, does not include a restructuring provision to preserve company value, and lacks the requisite transparency and predictability for creditors in the event of a liquidation. The two-day program provided the inter-agency Kuwaiti delegation with over 100 technical comments on the draft bankruptcy law.

Just as Houston is, in the U.S., the center of the oil and gas sector, in Iraq, Basrah is the center of the oil and gas sector. In fact, for this reason, as a result of past CLDP work, there is now a sister-city agreement between Houston and Basrah.

May 8, 2019 - May 9, 2019

On April 25-26, 2019, CLDP and ITA will conduct a two-day workshop on public consultation best practices for approximately 100 representatives of Honduran trade ministries responsible for citizen participation. The workshop will also include participants from Guatemalan and Salvadoran trade ministries, as well as representatives from academia and the private sector.

May 13, 2019 - May 15, 2019

CLDP will host a Meeting of the Central Asia-Afghanistan Expert Level Working Group on Sanitary/Phytosanitary Measures in Tbilisi, Georgia on May 13-15, 2019. The Meeting is in line with the U.S. Government’s technical assistance to Central Asia, aimed to assist in facilitating trade and economic connectivity in and among the countries of Central Asia, and between Central Asia and other countries and regions. To carry out its task, CLDP has organized and supports expert level regional working groups on key trade issues, namely, customs, standards, and SPS measures.

On May 13-17, CLDP organized a Public-Private Partnership Consultations on the margins of the P3 Connect Conference for official government representatives from Sri Lanka and the Maldives in Denver, Colorado.

On May 13-14, 2019, CLDP & ITA conducted a workshop on ‘Best Practices: Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA),” for 25 government representatives from El Salvador’s Regulatory Improvement Agency (OMR) in San Salvador, El Salvador.

On May 13-14, 2019,  CLDP will conduct a two day workshop on Public Private Partnership Finances in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This is the second event in a series of workshops that CLDP will facilitate in Ethiopia on Public Private Partnerships. 

May 13, 2019 - May 15, 2019

On May 13-15, 2019, CLDP, in coordination with the Competition Agency of Georgia, will host a workshop on developing and maintaining competition in the pharmaceutical market.  The three-day workshop will assist the Competition Agency in evaluating the pharmaceutical market and determining whether a competitive environment exists in the interactions between pharmaceutical companies and their consumers, suppliers, and competitors.   This workshop is part of a multi-phase effort by CLDP to assist the Competition Agency with combatting anticompetitive behavior and will be le

May 14, 2019 - May 16, 2019

From May 14-16, 2019, CLDP, in collaboration with the customs committees of Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Montenegro, and Moldova, organized its second workshop on Regional Coordinated Border Management for Balkans Countries in Petrovac, Montenegro. 

May 16, 2019 - May 17, 2019

As part of CLDP’s on-going assistance to the GOU on trade facilitation, CLDP will support a workshop on May 16-17 in Kyiv, entitled WTO TFA Agreement in Ukraine: Interagency Coordination and other Priority Issues.
