The proliferation of counterfeit, adulterated, and illegal agricultural inputs such as improved seeds, fertilizers, vaccines, farm equipment and crop protection products is increasing in Africa as governments encourage farmers to use new technologies to increase farming output. Although Mali has already implemented a basic legal framework for oversight of the quality of agricultural products, much remains to be done in terms of sensitization and technical capacity building of the relevant stakeholders.

September 9, 2019 - September 12, 2019

CLDP held a series of three workshops on September 9-11 & 13 on public-private partnerships (PPPs) in partnership with the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) and the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu. The first workshop was a two-day workshop for government ministries. The workshop covered the process for competitively tendering PPPs and evaluating bids. Additionally, the workshop also provided IBN with insights into how to set up a PPP authority.

September 11, 2019 - September 12, 2019

On September 11-12, 2019, CLDP will sponsor the participation of two delegates from the Competition Agency of Georgia to attend the Annual FTC-Eastern European Competition Workshop held in Budapest, Hungary.  The workshop is designed to build the capacity of participating competition agencies through presentations and topical case studies.  

September 11, 2019 - September 13, 2019

As a follow-up to two previous CLDP programs and in response to the current request of the Ukrainian government, CLDP in coordination with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine (MEDT) will implement a three day workshop in Kyiv, Ukraine, convening international experts on copyright and related rights, representatives of the Ukrainian parliament and the government, members of the Ukrainian judiciary, and Ukrainian lawyers.

CLDP Standards Working Group identified lead paint as a priority issue for work in 2019. The Working Group first explored the issue in 2017 in regulatory best practices workshops in 2017 and 2018, in which the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) participated as expert-advisors. CLDP and the Working Group have continued working with US EPA which spearheads a global effort to eliminate lead in paint called the Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead Paint (Lead Paint Alliance). The Lead Paint Alliance has the goal that all countries have lead paint laws.

September 16, 2019 - September 19, 2019

From September 16-19, 2019, CLDP, in conjuction with the office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), will organize U.S. Consultations on textiles in St. Louis, Columbia, and Kansas City, Missouri, for a delegation of approximately 25 government officials, industry representatives, and academics from El Salvador. 

September 17, 2019 - September 19, 2019

On September 17-19, 2019, CLDP will facilitate the first meeting of the Central Asia regional expert level on Intellectual Property Rights. In addition to government officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, CLDP will gather expert advisors from the U.S. Government and private sector. The work of the first meeting will focus on regional issues highlighted in the Special 301 Report, including accession to and implementation of the WIPO internet treaties, enforcement of intellectual property rights, and government is of unlicensed software.

On September 17-18, CLDP will sponsor judges from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain to Attend the International Association for Court Administration Conference to take place in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. 

September 19, 2019 - September 20, 2019

On September 19-20, 2019, CLDP will conduct a Workshop on Bid Protests Disputes in Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan for judges from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain.  

September 24, 2019 - September 25, 2019

On September 24-25, 2019, CLDP will conduct a workshop on microgrid design for approximatley 40 government officials and private sector representatives in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

September 25, 2019 - September 26, 2019

On September 25-26, 2019, in Doha, Qatar, CLDP led its first workshop on best practices in public-private partnerships (PPPs) with an interagency working group comprised of the Qatar Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Office of the Prime Minister, and Ministry of Public Works. The workshop focused on a specific case study on structuring PPPs for waste treatment plants and addressed key concepts such as valuation and cost-benefit analysis of PPP projects.
