On March 3-7, 2015 in Amman Jordan, CLDP hosted the 5th Annual Middle East Vis Pre-Moot Program under the auspices of the Judicial Council of Jordan, and in collaboration with the University of Jordan and several international law organizations including UNCITRAL and the International Court of Arbitration (ICC), and the University of Pittsburg (CILE).  The Vis Pre-Moot includes trainings and a competition to prepare teams from the region for final international Vis Moot competitions held in Vienna and Hong Kong later in March 2015. The program was attended by 60 students from 10 universities from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia. Simultaneously, CLDP led a training in Amman on the basics of arbitration and arbitral process for 12 newly hired arbitrators from Afghanistan and Iraq. As a practical exercise, the arbitrators were then paired with seasoned arbitrators from the region to judge the Pre-Moot competition. Building the capacity of legal professionals in arbitration will improve economic opportunities in the region by resolving commercial disputes in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
