On July 15-16, 2019 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and on July 18-19, 2019 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, CLDP, in coordination with ASTM International, conducted good regulatory practices workshops focused on standards setting for government officials and private sector representatives. Participants actively engaged with experts from ASTM International on such topics as “Principles of Good Regulatory Practice,” “Use of International Standards to Meet Regulatory Objectives,” and “Private Sector Perspectives on the Development, Adoption, and Implementation of Technical Regulations. ASTM also discussed its standards related to the mining, oil and gas, natural gas, and textiles industries. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan’s standards agencies also nominated speakers who contributed their respective country’s perspectives on many of the topics presented. At meetings conducted in-country, CLDP and ASTM International began planning topics on which to base follow-up workshops in early 2020.
