In June 2007, CLDP conducted the first segment of US-Saudi Arabia judicial consultations in Saudi Arabia. During this program, representatives from the Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, the US Federal Judiciary, and the National Conference of State Legislatures met with Saudi legal officials in an attempt to build bridges of communication and a deeper understand of each other’s legal system. During this program US representatives met with the Saudi Arabia Board of Grievances, the Saudi Human Rights Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, and the Shoura Council. Representatives in these meetings compared legal systems and discussed recent legal activity in each country, emphasizing the similar goals of the two legal systems. During this program, representatives from the Saudi Arabia judiciary welcomed further cooperation with US judges and CLDP. Judges from the Ministry have participated in CLDP's regional conferences in the past and expressed an interest in future conferences related to commercial law adjudication.
