CLDP Publishes Georgian Copyright Association’s Quarterly COPYRIGHT Magazine

Georgian Copyright Association COPYRIGHT Magazine, 6th edition
As part of CLDP’s continued intellectual property protection assistance programs in Georgia, CLDP is working in close coordination with the Georgian Copyright Association (GCA) to implement a capacity building program that will develop effective IP policies and efficiently manage IPR as it relates to collective copyright management.  In this framework, CLDP supported the publication of the 6th edition of GCA’s quarterly magazine Copyright, which aims to increase public awareness on copyright issues, to identify and solve existing problems in this field, and to identify new authors and performers while promoting Georgian culture. The magazine features bilingual (Georgian/English) content and was launched at the Tbilisi Media Center Union “Mediatheca” in Tbilisi, Georgia on May 31, 2013 to an audience of about 80 people, including representatives from the Georgian Ministry of Culture, Tbilisi City Hall, the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia- Sakpatenti, the Delegation to the European Union, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the German Academy for International Cooperation (GIZ), and authors among other invited guests. COPYRIGHT can also be viewed on the GCA website.

In addition to publishing GCA’s magazine, CLDP will partner with GCA on copyright training for judges and lawyers in June 2013 and will continue to provide capacity building training opportunities for GCA and its staff. Through this assistance, CLDP will help GCA achieve a deeper understanding of how to effectively manage a collective copyright association and will help to produce predictable, harmonized, and efficient copyright protection in Georgia.
