Consultation for Tunisian Judges: Judicial Reorganization of SMEs and Mediation

-
CLDP organized consultations on June 25-July 1, 2006 in Los Angeles, CA, in close cooperation with U.S. Embassy Tunis, and MEPI, for a delegation of judges from Tunisia. Following up on a judicial capacity building program held in Tunisia on the reorganization of SME's facing financial difficulty, the LA consultations focused on bankruptcy courts, the role of mediation, and the process of reorganizing businesses. The group of 9 Tunisian judges and one government official met with several US judges with particular business court expertise including judges from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and the California Superior Court. The Tunisians also met with creditor and debtor attorneys, the U.S. Trustees office, and court officials to see first hand how a Ch. 11 filing is administered.
