Workshop on WTO Notification Requirements for Afghanistan

May 3, 2018 - May 4, 2018

On May 3-4, CLDP held a joint workshop in cooperation with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Afghanistan Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) on drafting of WTO Notifications. In July 2016, Afghanistan became the 164th member of the WTO.  As a part of its WTO accession package, Afghanistan agreed to meet the transparency provisions of the WTO multilateral agreements, as well as to notify when it has implemented specific commitments.

As a result of the workshop, the Unit officials have drafted an Action Plan that will allow them to catch-up on outstanding Notifications, identify new legislation and regulations that will need to be notified to the WTO, and set a calendar for regular notifications.
