Law School Moot Court Team Development in Qatar

A CLDP curriculum development expert advised Qatar University College of Law regarding the development of a Moot Court team for the school. The University's goal is to prepare a team of students for the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, DC. The Jessup Moot Court Competition is organized by the International Law Students Association in conjunction with the American Society of International Law. Over 600 law schools in approximately 100 countries participate in the competition annually. Through moot court competition, law students from Qatar University will learn practical skills that are conducive to the effective administration of legal matters required of law graduates who will become judges and legal practitioners in the Arabian Peninsula. Qatar University?s College of Law faculty established Qatar?s first moot court team. The Qatar University moot court team plans to compete in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C. Qatar University's Law School through adopting the moot court competition into the university's curriculum and offering class credits for participation, plans to use this alternative teaching method to cultivate the analytical and pragmatic skills sought by private and public sector employers in Qatar and the Middle East.

May 13, 2019 - May 15, 2019

On May 13-15, 2019, in Tbilisi, Georgia, CLDP facilitated the eighth meeting of the Expert Level Working Group on Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Measures for officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The group benefited from additional participation by officials from Ukraine and Georgia.
