Honduras: CLDP Organizes Technical Session to Complete TFA Notifications

On July 7, 2020, CLDP organized a virtual technical session together with 10 counterparts from the Honduran ministries of Trade and Customs to support the completion of the outstanding TFA transparency notifications. The World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) requires Members to publish information online related to import and export procedures. Members formally publish the information by submitting notifications to the WTO, which is then reflected on their respective Member profile page for traders to easily access the relevant trade information. In Honduras, inefficient agency coordination and disjointed publication of information engender discretionary actions at the border and reduce the transparency of the regulatory process. Outstanding notifications included Article 10.4.3 Details of operation of the single window, Article 10.6.2 Measures on the use of customs brokers, and Article 12.2.2 Contact points for the exchange of customs information. This activity was part of a multiphase effort to promote transparency, cooperation, and coordination within the Honduran government and to improve intraregional trade in Central America.
