On January 17-18, at the request of the U.S. Embassy in Panama, CLDP held a workshop on the fundamentals of a 5G/OpenRAN network for officials from Panama’s National Authority for Public Services and the country’s two main telecom operators. The workshop included discussions on spectrum, physical infrastructure and the radio access and core network, and alternatives to proprietary point-to-point networks. The aim of this event is to provide technical assistance to Panama on 5G/ Open RAN and increase awareness of the dangers of proprietary networks.
