A CLDP team spent and entire day at the Patent Office, touring the premises, interviewing the patent controller and delivering 5 hours of training to all of the examiners. All examiners gained greater understanding of electronic search methods and strategies. Examiners gain understanding of circumstances under which software is patentable. The team clarified many aspects of the patent granting/rejection process, including why mailbox applications are still in limbo, the system in place to assure pharmaceutical patent linkage and why it is defective, and more accurate view of office circumstances and resource needs.
