CLDP lead two consecutive works on competitive tendering of power projects in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The first program focused on how to tender power projects to attract international developers and investors and how to structure the bids for purchase by cross-border buyers. This program included regional participants from Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka under the Department of State’s Indo-Pacific Economic Corridor Initiative. It is the first in a series of regional workshops aimed at developing cross border power trading through enhancing the contractual framework for power projects.

The second workshop was a bilateral program for Sri Lankan participants. The government of Sri Lanka recently decided to open its wind and solar power projects up to competitive bidding. The workshop provided the Sri Lankan participants with a better understanding of how to structure a tender and evaluate the bids submitted.
