Telecommunications Dispute Resolution Consultation - Phase III

-

CLDP experts assisted Egypt's National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority(NTRA) in its efforts to create transparent and efficient dispute resolution procedures to handle disputes that will dramatically increase in the recently liberalized Egyptian telecom market. During this final stage of a three part program, two CLDP advisors returned to Egypt to review the revised draft of a set of telecom dispute resolution procedures that was developed during phase two of the program and then circulated to the NTRA leadership for their comments and amendment. This third phase follows an initial consultative trip, where the CLDP advisors gave the NTRA officials an overview of telecom dispute resolution principles, provided some insight into the types of disputes Egypt is facing and will likely face, and met with representatives from the Egyptian judiciary, Cairo Arbitration Center, private sector and consumer affairs to discuss a wide range of issues concerning telecom dispute resolution, and the second phase during which a draft was created. In addition to reviewing the revised draft, CLDP will provide recommendations for the successful implementation of the new dispute resolution procedures.
