Textile Sourcing Consultations for Moroccan delegation in the U.S.

-
Responding to a request from the GOM, U.S. Embassy officials in Rabat contacted CLDP to provide technical assistance to the GOM on the implementation of the FTA's rules of origin requirements as they relate to textiles, CLDP relied on its extensive experience in organizing consultations to provide GOM officials a uniquely tailored program in order to promote linkages between the U.S. exporters and Moroccan textile and apparel manufacturers as they become incentivized by the rules of origin provisions of the FTA to import yarns and threads from U.S. firms. CLDP organized the consultations in close coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Morocco and the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service (US FCS). The consultations will took place June 9-June 15, 2007 in Washington, DC and North Carolina (NC). Subsequent to the U.S.-based consultations, CLDP, in cooperation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), will organize an advanced road-show in four Moroccan cities where CBP experts will conduct workshops on the rules of origin provisions of the FTA relating to textiles and apparel. The format of the program will consist of CBP experts providing training for Moroccan officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce as well as over 400 members from the textile and apparel sector.
