CLDP, in partnership with the Public Procurement Methodology Department within the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic held a Workshop on International Best Practices in Public Procurement in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The program featured procurement experts from the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, the Public Procurement Methodology Department of the Kyrgyz Republic, and George Washington University School of Law (GWU), who discussed a wide range of topics, including: (1) basic principles of a procurement system; (2) an overview of the Kyrgyz Republic's Procurement System; (3) transparency in procurement; (4) the architecture of a public procurement challenge system; (5) best practices in electronic procurement; (6) tendering; (7) suspension and debarment of suppliers; and (8) promoting participation in government procurement.  
 

The goal of this workshop was to provide a forum for an exchange of best practices in public procurement for Kyrgyz public procurement practitioners, to increase the efficiency and transparency of public procurement in the Kyrgyz Republic, and to assist the Kyrgyz Republic with meeting international norms and standards in public procurement.
