Iraqi State Owned Companies Seek Partnerships with US Companies

CLDP led a three week workshop in Washington DC from October 3-19, 2011 on “Forming Durable Strategic Partnerships between Iraqi SOEs and Foreign Firms.” The program which was conducted by Deputy Chief Counsel Marc Tejtel and International Program Specialist Adam Al-Sarraf, is the final phase of an eight month program designed for Iraq’s state owned enterprises.

Iraqi State Owned Companies Seek International Strategic Partnerships

CLDP, in cooperation with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, led a workshop in Istanbul from June 26-30 on "Forming Durable Strategic Partnerships between Iraqi SOEs and Foreign Firms." The program which was conducted by Deputy Chief Counsel Marc Tejtel and International Program Specialist Adam Al-Sarraf, is the second phase of an eight month program designed for Iraq's state owned enterprises.  This program consists of three phass, organized for the same group of participants which include 10 Iraqi SOE representatives and 10 representatives of the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the government agency that oversees the companies.  CLDP completed the first phase earlier this year with a seminar that took place in Baghdad involving skills development exercises and case studies on how to identify and engage potential partners.

CLDP Conducts Seminar in Baghdad for Iraqi State Owned Enterprises

On May 30 and 31, 2011 CLDP conducted a seminar to initiate an eight-month program with the participants involving skills development exercises and consultations with International organizations, Turkish and US firms on structuring, negotiating, and drafting contracts that form the bases of these partnerships, to include distribution contracts, licensing contracts and contracts to form joint ventures.

In close cooperation with Iraq’s Judical Development Institute (JDI), CLDP recently organized its second workshop as part of a series of workshops on commercial law.

Baghdad Workshop on Commercial Court Procedure

U.S. Consultation for the Iraq Standards Organization

The Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) of Iraq develops standards for all economic sectors, conformity assessments, metrology/calibrations and quality certifications. To approach the numerous challenges in conformity assessment presented by Iraq reconstruction, the COSQC hopes to modernize each of its departments.
