Dominican Republic: Best Procurement Practices in Disaster and Emergency Response

On November 18, 2022, CLDP along with the Dominican General Directorate for Public Procurement (DGCP) hosted a workshop on best practices in contracting and administration in response to disasters and emergencies. The workshop reached 45 representatives from 13 Dominican institutions, including the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MISPAS), Ministry of Education (MINERD), National System for Attention to Emergencies and Security 9-1-1, and Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) among others. The workshop began with an introduction to the current state of emergency procurement processes in the Dominican Republic by the Director of the DGCP, followed by an overview of the U.S. Framework for procurement during disaster response, before finally discussing international best practices in planning, contracting and managing emergency response procurements.  This workshop served to further CLDP’s objective to improve transparency, efficiency, and sustainability in the Dominican procurement system.
