In August and September 2020, CLDP, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the General Directorate for Public Contracting, will conduct a series of training-of-the-trainers for 25 directors and personnel of small business centers in the Dominican Republic (DR) on how to deliver procurement-specific technical assistance to women-owned business clients. The trainings, to be held entirely in Spanish, will be led by directors of the Riverside, California, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) and will cover all aspects of designing, implementing, and managing teams of technical assistance providers specialized in public procurement. During this virtual series, representatives of women-owned businesses will be invited to discuss their challenges in participating in government tenders and government officials and personnel of the newly created PTACs will offer solutions to these challenges and explain their services. This program aims to strengthen the capacity of Dominican procurement centers so that they can better train representatives of small and women-owned business with the overall goal of improving access to government procurement contracts for these businesses.
