CLDP worked with legal stakeholders in Bahrain and Qatar to develop secured lending laws allowing entrepreneurs to borrow on real as well as movable property.

A 3-day conference organized by CLDP brought together telecom regulators, vendors, and other stakeholders from 32 countries to hear the latest information regarding convergence of telecommunication services and discuss the challenges in regulation.

Responding to a request from the GOM, CLDP organized the consultations in close coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Morocco and the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service (US FCS). The consultations will took place June 9-June 15, 2007 in Washington, DC and North Carolina (NC).

As the 3rd phase of a Judicial Capacity Building Program for Jordan, CLDP organized U.S.-based consultations in close cooperation with U.S. Embassy Amman, the Judicial Institute of Jordan, and MEPI for a delegation of judges from Algeria.

In response to a request by the State Department, CLDP will begin providing technical assistance to an association of Palestinian lawyers whose goal is to harmonize and update commercial laws in the West Bank and Gaza.

CLDP invited Bahrain officials from the E-Commerce Directorate of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Bahrain to meet with E-commerce law practitioners, legal academics, and industry executives in the US in order to identify and craft a comprehensive E-commerce legal regime for Bahrain.

Part of a multi-stage assistance plan over the course of the 2007/2008 academic year to the University of Bahrain, CLDP will work with the University of Bahrain to develop the structure of their moot court program.

CLDP worked closely with Mohamed Ghernaout of Algeria's accounting association (Ordre des Experts Comptables) in Washington, D.C. August 27-31 to draft several case studies for judicial capacity building seminars scheduled to take place in Algeria in October and December 2007.
